Games in Action with Game Go

During this initial phase, students will explore the process of creating video games from scratch. From conceptualization to implementation, they will learn the fundamentals of programming through a Scratch-based graphical interface. In addition, they will have access to special classes where they will be able to develop story writing and character design skills, fundamental to bring their creations to life.

Creative Ideas

• We start by explaining how the course works and the tool we are going to use, Game Go.
• Together we come up with ideas for our games, such as which characters we want and where the adventures will take place.
• We pick an idea for a game and start deciding what things we need to make it happen.

Researching and Planning

• We learn about other games similar to the one we want to do and what people like about them.
• We start telling the story of our game, we think about the characters that are going to appear and the places where they are going to be.
• We make a detailed plan of how we are going to make our game and divide the tasks among everyone.

Creating Our World

• We learn how the Game Go program works and start making our basic game.
• We are adding more things to our game, such as character movements and things they can do.
• We test what we have done and see what works well and what we can improve.

Making Our Game Great

• We continue to improve our game, adding special details and fixing bugs.
• We test our game one last time and see if it is ready to be played by other people.
• Finally, we launched our game and shared it with our friends and family to enjoy!

At this stage, students will advance to a more complex programming language, such as Python, thus expanding their skills and knowledge. In addition to developing their own video game, they will have the opportunity to share their creations on a dedicated platform and collaborate with their peers to enrich their learning experience.

• Through the creation of stories for their video games, children will improve their writing skills.
