Smart Farming: How Home Automation and AI are Revolutionizing Home Farming and Reducing Water Consumption by up to 40%.

Amaisys receives a Green Cup from ACCIÓ to advance towards the ISO 14068-1 certification.

Amaisys has been selected as the beneficiary of a ACCIÓ Green Cup (expedient ACE124/24/000869) in the framework of the program Business Competitiveness Coupons 2024 program..

This support will allow us to initiate aspecialized technical consulting project with the aim of preparing us to achieve ISO 14068-1:2023 certification, linked to climate neutrality. This standard represents a strategic framework for reducing, offsetting and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with transparency and corporate responsibility.

What will we do with this project?

Over the next few months, this assessment will allow us:

  • Review and update our GHG inventory, according to ISO 14064-1 standards and the GHG Protocol, to establish a baseline of emissions.
  • Identify mitigation actions, such as:
    • Integration of IoT sensors to monitor energy consumption.
    • Substitution of equipment for more efficient ones.
    • Migration to cloud services powered by renewable energy.
  • Define a climate adaptation strategy, with actions that reinforce our technological resilience in the face of extreme climate phenomena and environmental risks.
  • Establish an environmental action plan with:
    • Clear objectives.
    • Monitoring indicators (KPIs).
    • Compensation criteria.
    • Calendar for a future external verification.
  • To design a realistic roadmap towards ISO 14068-1 certification, adapted to our profile as a company developing software solutions for industry and smart building.

What is our objective?

Our main objective is to transform our environmental management model, incorporating sustainability as a strategic axis in all areas:

  • Technological development.
  • Operations.
  • Mobility.
  • Subministrament.
  • Digital services.

In addition, this project will help us to:
– Anticipate risks.
– Improve transparency.
– Generate differential value for our clients, especially in industrial environments that demand high environmental and social responsibility standards.

This project has the support of ACCIÓ – Generalitat de Catalunya, through the Green 2024 Coupons.

Can you imagine harvesting your own herbs, fruits and vegetables at home effortlessly, with a system that automatically waters, controls light and optimizes nutrients? The  smart agriculture is no longer exclusive to large industrial greenhouses: thanks to the home automation and artificial intelligence (AI), you can now have a self-sufficient vegetable garden on your balcony, terrace or even in your kitchen.

In this article, you will explore how technology is transforming urban agriculture, what economic and ecological benefits it offers, and how you can implement it in your home without being an expert.

1. What is Smart Agriculture and how does it work?

Smart agriculture combines sensors, automation and AI algorithms to optimize plant growth with minimal human intervention. These systems monitor key factors such as:

  • Soil moisture (automatic irrigation when necessary).

  • Lighting (LED lights adjustable according to the type of plant).

  • Temperature and ventilation (climate control to avoid plant stress).

Practical examples:

  • Automated hydroponic gardens: They grow plants without soil, with irrigation and light regulated by AI.

  • Smart sensors: They analyze the soil and send alerts to your cell phone if water or nutrients are lacking.

  • Gardening robots: Planting, watering and pest detection with millimetric precision.

How to Start at Home?

  • Smart growing starter kit: Ideal for beginners (e.g. self-watering pots with integrated light).

  • Integration with voice assistants: “Alexa, water the lettuce” or “Google, do my tomatoes need fertilizer?”.

  • Modular systems: Scalable according to your space and needs.

2. Key Benefits: Savings, Sustainability and Self-Sufficiency

Water Savings (up to 40%)
Intelligent irrigation systems use only the water needed, avoiding waste. According to the  FAO, traditional agriculture consumes 70% of the world’s freshwater; automation drastically reduces this impact.

Fresh, Pesticide-Free Food
Homegrown = less chemicals and fewer trips to the grocery store. Imagine having organic basil, strawberries or peppers all year round!

Climate Change Adaptation
AI adjusts growing conditions to heat or cold waves, protecting your plants.

3. The Future of Home Agriculture

Technology has democratized self-cultivation: you no longer need a garden or advanced knowledge. With options from  50 euros (such as basic sensors) to robotic greenhouses, anyone can contribute to a greener, more efficient future.
